Discover Alexandria is launching a brand new tour called George Washington’s Alexandria. This upcoming weekend the tour will be offered at 3pm on June 3rd and 1pm on June 4th.
George Washington’s Alexandria will cover Old Town’s colonial and revolutionary history, from the town’s establishment in 1749, to Washington’s death in 1799. Guests will learn about Alexandria’s founding, the town’s role during the French and Indian War, as well as George Washington’s life in the community. The tour departs from the Alexandria Visitor’s Center on 221 King St. Dogs are welcome on the tour.
Discover Alexandria’s new guide Kieran O’Keefe developed the tour. Kieran is a PhD student in History at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C.. Specializing in colonial and revolutionary history, Kieran wanted to share his expertise with visitors and locals in Old Town.
