Where do tours start?
All regularly scheduled tours begin at the Alexandria Visitor’s Center at 221 King St. If you schedule a private tour, you can request the guide meet you at a location convenient to you within Old Town. Most private tours leave from Market Square.
Should I register in advance?
Spots for tours on the weekends fill up pretty fast. You can reserve your spot by booking online, emailing discoveralexandria@gmail.com, or calling 774-641-9006. If you need to cancel your reservation, please email 24 hours in advance.
How do I pay for the tour?
You can pay online with credit card by clicking the “Book Now” button on our website. You can also pay with credit card or cash for regularly scheduled tours at the Visitor’s Center. For private tours, we request you pay online in advance or with cash the day of the tour.
Should I tip the tour guide?
If you enjoyed your tour, you can certainly tip your guide to show your appreciation. If you were not satisfied with your tour, please email us with any feedback you have.
What happens if it rains when I scheduled a tour?
Tours will run-rain or shine. Just make sure to wear your rain boots and bring an umbrella.
Are dogs allowed to come on the tour?
Discover Alexandria welcomes dogs on all tours except the Sweet History and Historical Pub crawl.
What should I bring on the tour?
We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes, bringing a water bottle during the summer, and an umbrella if there is any chance of rain in the forecast.
How far in advance do I need to call to book a private tour?
We gladly accommodate date-of requests, but the earlier you book the tour, the greater flexibility we will have with available tour times.
